Therese Rochette, 55, died of a heart attack on Sunday, the day after arriving in Vancouver with her husband to watch their daughter compete in the 2010 Olympic Games.

Tears could be seen on the faces of almost everyone that night as Rochette put on a graceful performance punctuated by the grief and emotion on her face.

Rochette took third place in the short program, the first part of the two-portion women’s figure skating event, receiving her medal on Thursday.

Before leaving the arena, Rochette, with tears streaming down her face, waved her hand, put it to her heart, and then blew a kiss to the audience leaving a powerful impression on the spectators who shared in her sorrow.

1. Look for parking signs.

This one seems obvious but can be easily forgotten. Watch for signs that show limited parking time, time of day you can park, parking fees, and other important information.

2. Staying longer than 2 hours in Whistler Village? Use day skier lots.

Whistler’s Marketplace lot is a popular spot for it’s free parking in Whistler Village but is limited to 2 hours maximum. We suggest using a day skier lot, just a three minute walk from Whistler Village if you plan on staying longer.

3. Is a permit required?

Some parking lots require a permit that needs to be displayed while you are parked.

4. Make sure you have change.

Another one that may seem obvious. Most lots will have change and credit card machines, but why waste time struggling to get that bill to go through or paying expensive credit fees? Canada has a $1 and $2 coin, save these coins for parking fees to save yourself some hassle.

5. Is overnight parking permitted?

Some lots do not permit overnight parking, so make sure you inquire as to the parking hours.
