Thousands of athletes will make their way to Whistler this weekend to take part in Subaru IRONMAN® Canada, the ultimate endurance race. This marks the first time Whistler has ever held the race which takes place on Sunday, August 25.
Athletes will beging the race by completing a two loop, 2.4 mile swim around Alta Lake. Following the swim participants will hop on their bikes and complete a 112 mile bike course that starts in Whistler and navigates its way up the Sea to Sky to the Pemberton Meadows and back to Whistler Village. The final stage of the race is the running portion which loops around the Valley Trail past Lost Lake and Green Lake allowing spectators to cheer on these amazing athletes before they complete the race at Whistler's Olympic Plaza.
Spectators will find several places throughout Whistler where they can catch the athletes racing by. One of the official places to watch the biking portion of the event is located right in front of the Aava Whistler Hotel. You can catch athletes as they begin their 112 mile journey from Whistler to Pemberton and back. The first bikers will begin passing by Aava around 8:30 AM.
