5 Best Places to Après in Whistler!
A day on the mountain is not complete without Après! Après-ski may have its roots in the Alps but it is also a big tradition in Whistler. The après scene in Whistler is great and there are lots of places to enjoy a drink, have some nachos and dance to live music. Here is our list of the top 5 places to Après this winter!
1. THE GLC (GARIBALDI LIFT COMPANY)
The GLC is the perfect place to watch the slope side action. It is located up the stairs, just next to the Whistler Village Gondola. There is a great outdoor patio overlooking the slopes and village below. Visitors will enjoy live band performances and ambient house music in the GLC. Local band The Hairfarmers perform most Sundays. Choose from gourmet entrees, nachos, beers and many other yummy menu items. Relax by the huge fireplace or catch game on the big screen TV.
2. THE LONGHORN SALOON
This place has been a landmark in Whistler since its foundation 25 years ago. The patio is legendary and you can take in the surrounding mountains and bask in the sun. Enjoy the great food and ice cold beer. The Longhorn Saloon is located at the base of Whistler Mountain just in front of the Whistler Village Gondola.
Merlin's is located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain in front of the Wizard Chairlift. Merlin's is famous for its huge nachos, tabletop dancing, live music, and its roomy outdoor patio. Families with children are welcome until 7pm. This is a great spot for lunch as well.
Whistler's Creekside was where the first lift up Whistler was located. Dusty's bar originated in 1965 and was rebuilt in 2000. Enjoy the cozy fireplace and wood-timbered ceilings. Dustys is full of action with its trivia games and live music and you can even watch boarders and skiers from its large outdoor patio. Dusty has a great BBQ menu for you to enjoy. Try one of their pulled pork sandwiches complete with butt rub sauce. This is an awesome place to enjoy après in Whistler creekside.
5. DUBH LINN GATE IRISH PUB
The Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub is located in front of the Blackcomb Excalibur Gondola at the base of Whistler Mountain. This is Whistler's only Irish pub and a great place to enjoy a cold glass of Guinness and have great home cooked food including their classic Irish stew. There is also an excellent patio looking over Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. The Dubh Linn Gate is famous for its great live music.
