Whistler Presents FREE Summer Concert Series | Week 1
The Whistler Olympic Plaza once again plays host to the Whistler Presents FREE Summer Concert Series. Join us this Friday and Saturday at the Plaza for FREE performances by local Canadian acts. Read a quick bio below on the three acts that will take the stage this weekend.
Friday, July 6
Friday night Saskatoon based band Wide Mouth Mason bring their blend of blues - rock to the Plaza stage. Formed in 1995 Wide Mouth Mason are veterans of the Canadian music scene. After enjoying huge success in the late 90's WMM continued to release new material until 2005. However it wasn't until 2011 when we heard from them again after the release of their newest album "No Bad Day." In a career that has spanned over 17 years WMM have rattled off numerous gold records, Juno awards and big hits. This Friday night at 8:30PM they take the Olympic Plaza stage to entertain the Whistler crowd.
Saturday, July 7
Singer-songwriter Jill Barber takes the stage Saturday night in what promises to be a brilliant performance. Originally based out of the east coast Barber now calls Vancouver home and credits her new home town for many of the inspirations for her music. This ultra talented beauty brings her folk rock sound to the stage this weekend in promotion of her latest release "Mischievous Moon". Over the years Barber has collaborated with Canadian music legend Ron Sexsmith and producer Les Cooper. Nominated for best new at the Juno's in 2008 this young lady is posed to be a star in the Canadian music scene for years to come. Come watch this Saturday night at 8:30 as she belts out music from her past and present works.

Another Vancouver based band takes the stage Saturday night, Pacifika. This trio of people brings together three very different artists both collectively and creatively. Influenced by everything from new wave, pop, classical, jazz, hip hop and many more genres this band finds inspiration in every type of music. Not feeling the need to be confined to one particular sound Pacifika promises to be a musical explosion. Another unique aspect of the band is the lead singer, Peruvian born Silvana Kane has the ability to sing in multiple languages. Many of Pacifika's tracks are sung in English, Spanish or French. Praised by big time players including the Wall Street Journal, New York Post, Latina Magazine and KCRW this eclectic band is universally recognized and be-loved.
