Callaghan Valley Huckleberry Festival
If you're in Whistler this weekend why not check out the Huckleberry Festival located in the beautiful Callaghan Valley. This year's event takes place at the Callaghan Lodge located about 25 minutes outside of the Whistler Village.
The day will include a FREE pancake breakfast the only stipulation is that you hand pick the fresh blueberries or huckleberries for your breakfast. Along with berry picking the festival includes a wide range of events throughout the day.
Activities include the annual pie making contest, guided hiking tours, yoga seminars and live music. This year's event is happy to be joined by local bear researcher Michael Allen. Mr. Allen will be giving a seminar on bears and their interaction with the local area as well as answering questions about the local wild life.
The boy's from Copper Cayuse Outfitters will be on hand as well providing horseback trips around the area. These local cowboys have an intimate knowledge of the local area and provide the perfect way to explore the surrounding Callaghan Valley.
If you're wondering where the Callaghan Valley is it's located about 25 minutes outside of the Whistler Village.The turn off for the Callaghan is 10 minutes outside of Function Junction heading towards Squamish. Signs identify the Callaghan turn off and direct you down a road connecting to the Callaghan Lodge. Be aware that some of the road is un-paved and may require slower speeds.
The Huckleberry Festival takes place this Sunday, September 16 from 9AM to 4PM at the Callaghan Lodge. The Festival is FREE to attend however if you wish to partake in some of the events such as horseback riding you will need to bring money.
