Luge World Championships

Whistler play's host to the top Luge athletes in the world this weekend when they compete in the 44th Luge World Championships. 150 of the best Lugers in the world representing 25 countries will make the Whistler Sliding Centre their home as they try and claim the biggest event of the year.
Join us February 1 - 2 as these amazing athletes race down the Sliding Centre Track at dizzying speeds. Along with holding all of the weekend’s competitive events the Sliding Centre will be housing a number of local food vendors, beer gardens and nightly fireworks displays.
If you get to Whistler early this week make sure you catch the Opening Ceremonies of the Luge World Championships Wednesday, January 30. The Ceremonies include the arrival of the athletes at 7PM in the Village Square, followed by a welcoming address from the Whistler Mayor. Later on in the evening Vancouver band The Boom Booms will hit the stage for a FREE concert.
Tickets for the Luge events are only $10 a day and can be purchased online or live at the event. The Whistler Sliding Centre will host all of the weekend’s festivities and is located at the bottom of Blackcomb Mountain. Access to the track can be reached by car via Blackcomb Lane & Glacier Lane.
