Canada Day 2013 WhistlerWhistler is the place to be this long weekend to celebrate Canada's 146th birthday. There are a number of FREE events happening all weekend long as part of the Canada Day celebrations.

This weekend also marks the kick off of the Whistler Summer Concert Series. The Concert Series is presented by the village of Whistler and is a series of FREE concerts held at Whistler's Olympic Plaza. The Plaza will play host to three seperate concert series this weekend on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Canada Day falls on a Monday this year and Whistler has no shortage of Canada Day festivities planned for the special day. The day will start off with a pancake breakfast at Rebagliati Park, followed by parade through the village in the afternoon and the traditional Canada Day fireworks display later on that night.

Saturday, June 29

Whistler Street Entertainment

Details: The village will be alive with street performers throughout the long weekend. Check out Skiers Plaza and Village Square to catch some of the acts throughout the day.

Whistler Presents Outdoor Concert Series featuring Daniel Lapp Band, Matt Dusk

Details: The Whistler Concert Series is a FREE concert series held by the Village of Whistler. FREE concerts will be held at Whistler Olympic Plaza throughout the Canada Day long weekend. Check out FREE shows by Daniel Lapp and Matt Dusk this Saturday night.

Sunday, June 30

Whistler Farmers' Market

Details: The Whistler Farmer’s Market is a great place to take a Sunday stroll and pick up some fresh produce or hand crafted gifts that are uniquely local.
Time: 11 AM to 4 PM

Pancake Breakfast

Details: Join us for a Canada Day pancake breakfast at Rebagliati Park.
Time: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Location: Rebagliati Park. Minimum donation $3.00 to Whistler Community Services

Art Walk self-guided tours

Details: Take a self-guided tour of all the art galleries in the Whistler Village. A brochure featuring all the participating artists and venues are available at Millennium Place and the Whistler Visitor Info Centre.

North Shore Celtic Ensemble

Details: Catch a traditional Celtic dance group preform at the Town Plaza.

Canada Day Parade

Details: The Canada Day Parade starts at 12PM and will wind itself through the Whistler Village.
Time: starts at 12:00 PM
Location: Parade will move from Town Plaza to Mountain Square along Village Stroll

Canada Day Ceremony

Details: Join us at Whistler Olympic Plaza following the parade for the Canada Day ceremony which includes the welcoming of the Aboriginal Youth Ambassadors and a Canada Day cake.

Whistler Presents Outdoor Concert Series: Ruckus Deluxe, Norman Foote, Kalan Wi and Jeremy Fisher

Details: The Whistler Concert Series is a FREE concert series held by the Village of Whistler. FREE concerts will be held at Whistler Olympic Plaza throughout the Canada Day long weekend. Check out FREE shows by Ruckus Deluxe | 2:30 PM - 3:15 PM, Norman Foote | 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM, Kalan Wi | 4:45 PM - 5:30 PM and Jeremy Fisher | 5:45 PM - 7:00 PM.

Canada Day Fireworks

Details: The final event of the night the Canada Day Fireworks display will take place at the base of Whistler Mountain. You can see the fireworks from anywhere in the village but the best viewing area is Skiers Plaza.

FREE transit in Whistler from BC Transit

Details: BC Transit will be running FREE bus services on Canada Day from 6PM to late. Allowing everyone to enjoy the festivities and catch a safe ride home at the end of the night.
