Whistler Great Outdoors Festival

GO Festival Coming Victoria Day Long Weekend

Great Outdoors Fest

We're excited to be the Host Hotel for the upcoming Great Outdoors (GO) Festival, happening in Whistler on May long weekend, the 16 through the 19. Four days and nights of fun, including the iconic Great Snow Earth Water Race, which hasn't happened in the municipality in 20 years. The race helps us say good bye to winter and hello to summer. It's a team relay race, so start thinking about teams. This is a great family friendly event, and we cannot wait to get started on the festivities.

Victoria Day Long Weekend

The great thing about the May long weekend is that you can begin golfing and even spend a day at Lost Lake, but you still have the chance to ski if you want to. It's the day that the season changes over from winter to summer.

Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden "Thrilled"

“I am thrilled to see the creation of GO Fest on the Victoria Day Long Weekend,” said Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden. “Whistler has a robust calendar of events and festivals and adding a festival in May will further strengthen Whistler’s year-round offerings. May is one of the best months of the year to participate in all the activities that make Whistler an amazing destination, and we are working with the festival producers to present a four-day schedule of active programming that celebrates Whistler’s great outdoors and the convergence of winter and summer recreation activities.”

Major Funding from RMOW

The GO Festival is getting major funding from the RMOW, which is dedicating $280,000 in Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) funds to create a new May long weekend festival. Sadly, a part of the motivation for this festival is to dissuade vandalism, which has been a bit of an issue for a few years. Resurrecting this incredible festival, which will be produced by Crankworx Events Inc, is a wonderful way to transition from winter to summer in Whistler.

We hope to see you at the GO Festival, and will definitely writing more about the festival as details are announced. Stay tuned and get ready!
