Whistler Festival Season Begins
Festivals This Spring and Summer
Beginning with this weekend and the World Ski and Snowboard Festival, this spring and summer is looking like one huge festival to us.
The 19th annual World Ski and Snowboard Festival begins this Friday, April 11, and is 10 days of non-stop competitions, culture and concerts. In fact, there are so many non-ticketed events that the WSSF is the largest free concert series in Canada. Add to this the best spring skiing in the world. and you've got a festival up to the standards of the top resort in North America.
Next Up: The GO Festival
May long weekend, for four days, from the 16th to the 19th, is the Great Outdoors Festival. This is the time of year in Whistler when you can choose your own adventure - both winter and summer activities are still available here at this time, and this festival is all about taking advantage of this. Organizers are encouraging visitors to "Come up to Whistler to play!"
“I am thrilled to see the creation of GO Fest on the Victoria Day Long Weekend,” said Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden. “Whistler has a robust calendar of events and festivals and adding a festival in May will further strengthen Whistler’s year-round offerings. May is one of the best months of the year to participate in all the activities that make Whistler an amazing destination, and we are working with the festival producers to present a four-day schedule of active programming that celebrates Whistler’s great outdoors and the convergence of winter and summer recreation activities.”
Finally, Off the Beaten Path...
We're pretty excited to announce the line up of the Pemberton Music Festival for 2014. Right in the middle of summer, July 18 - 20, some of the best bands in North America are coming to Pemberton. Add to that comedy from The Trailer Park BOys, Bob Saget, Tom Green and more, and you've got a great summer music festival. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 11 at 10:00 am. You won't want to miss this chance to head out of town a bit and enjoy the countryside.
The festival features over 100 performances and six performance areas, in what HUKA Entertainment calls "the most beautiful festival site in the world." We're looking forward to yet another festival this season, making this spring and summer the season of festivals.
