Araxi Named Top Restaurant
For an unprecedented 5th straight time Araxi was named the top restaurant in Whistler by Vancouver Magazine. Coming in second and third respectably were the Bearfoot Bistro and Sidecut. Honourable mentions went to the Mexican Corner and Alta Bistro.
Araxi well known for its use of the 100 mile diameter menu which involves only using ingredients that can be found within 100 miles of the restaurant. This year however it was noted that Walt had stepped out of his comfort zone and brought ingredients like Peruvian chilies. This was said to have brought in a welcome complexity to his brilliant farm-to-table menu.
Dine In Whistler Series
Coincidentally all five of these restaurants are participants in the Dine In Whistler Series that takes place from May 1-15. The two week series features 26 restaurants from the Whistler area. As part of the series all participating restaurants have put together a special three to five course menu at a discounted price. Menus fall into one of four price categories; $21, $31, $41, $61.
The popular culinary series is already in its last week so make sure to get out there and take advantage while you still can. To help make your decision as easy as possible we have compiled a list of all the participating restaurants with links to their featured menu. On a side note both Araxi (5 course for $31) and the Rim Rock (4 course for $45) have discounted menus as well but aren’t officially part of the Dine In Series event.
