ArtWalk Opening Day

ArtWalk Poster

Join us this Saturday, June 28 for the opening day of ArtWalk Whistler. During the event the Village Stroll comes alive with dozens of live artists painting, quilting, spinning pottery, knitting and much more. Live music and theatrical performances can also be found throughout the event. Grab the whole family and come out and enjoy the opening day of ArtWalk. ArtWalk opening day runs from 3PM to 7PM in the Upper Village (Village Stroll).

What is ArtWalk?

ArtWalk is a summer long self guided art walking tour that takes place from June 28 - August 31, 2014. All you have to do is pick up an ArtWalk passport from Whistler Millennium Place or the Whistler Visitor Centre and away you go. Stops on the tour include a series of local art galleries, exhibits, outdoor murals and more. This is a self guided tour so you alone choose how many and which stops you want to visit.

Featured Artist: Russell Dalby

Russell DalbyNewmarket Ontario is famous for producing funny men Jim Carrey, John Candy and the slightly less famous, but almost as funny, Russell Dalby. Instead of ending up on SCTV or Mad TV, Russell’s love of mountains and snowboarding drew him west to Whistler in the fall of 1997 where a few years later he began to shoot photos seriously. Fast forward more than 10 years and Dalby is a staff photographer for Snowboard Canada Magazine and regular photographer for Monster Energy. His photos grace the pages of magazines around the world, and his friends and clients know him as a reliable and consistent shooter. For many years now, Russell has lived between Pemberton and Vancouver and he continues to make tracks and crack jokes throughout the Coast Mountains.

Russell will be one of the featured artists on display this Saturday at the opening of ArtWalk. Make sure to stop by and check out some of his amazing photographs on your walk!!
