Whistler Summer Concert Series | Week 4

Whistler Olympic ParkThe Whistler Summer Concert Series is a series of FREE concerts throughout the summer put on by the Village of Whistler. All of this year's concerts will take place at Whistler's Olympic Plaza the former medal stage for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

This week features three FREE shows from various Canadian musicians.

This weeks' performers include The Mocking Bird, Wil and Chantal Kreviazuk. Listed below is a quick bio on each artist including the day and time they are set to go on.

Friday, July 27 | 8:30PM: The Mocking Bird

The Mocking Bird are set to take the stage this Friday night at 8:30PM. This is singer songwriter Bob Kemmis first solo project in seven years a long time coming for this local Vancouver boy. Equipped with a new rockier edge than any of his previous works Kemmis says his life experiences from the past seven years have been the inspiration for every track on the album. Since his last solo effort Kemmis has spent much of his time on the road as a performer for such artists as Jann Arden, Frank Black, John Hiatt, Danny Michel and Badly Drawn Boy, but also from the sides of the stage, as a highly regarded guitar tech for artists such as Feist, Jann Arden and the Bryan Adams band. During his time on the road Kemmis recorded all over the world including historic landmarks such as A-Pawling Studios in Pawling, NY and a legendary day at the Abbey Road recording studios. Join us Friday night as Kemmis belts out hits from his newest project No Good Deed Goes Unpunished at Whistler's Olympic Plaza.

Friday, July 27 | 9:15PM: Wil

Alberta's own Wil is set to rock the plaza Friday night at 9:15PM. Since he was a child Wil has grown up to the sounds of Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins and Hank Williams playing in his room. Now mixed with his love of alternative rock and punk Wil has created a sound that still stays true to his country roots but combines the love of his other musical influences. Being born and raised in Alberta has also found its way into Wil's musical style. Many of his songs are a throwback to the country roots Alberta has always been known for. Wil has received much fan fare within the Canadian music industry and has been asked to tour with artists such as Colin James, Matthew Good, Joel Plaskett Emergency and Xavier Rudd. This weekend Wil brings his beautiful blend of country, folk music to the Olympic Plaza stage. Don't miss your chance to see this great talent for FREE this Friday.

Saturday, July 28 | 8:30PM: Chantal Kreviazuk

Canadian Music icon Chantal Kreviazuk will serenade the crowd Saturday night starting at 8:30PM. Since 1996 Kreviazuk has been a staple on the Canadian music scene having sold millions of records and received international acclaim and attention. Kreviazuk shot to international fame after recording a cover of 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' for the monster hit movie Armageddon. After 6 studio albums and 16 years in the music business she is still making new music and will be touring this summer in support of her newest album 'In This Body'. Make sure to catch her performance this Saturday night at Whistler's Olympic Plaza.
