Whistler Mountain Open Saturday, November 16th

Whistler Mountain Open Saturday, November 16th

We can't contain our excitement. Whistler Mountain opens Saturday, November 16th at 8:30 am. You'll still have time to fit in your Cornucopia meditation session at 7:00, head on over to Whistler Village Gondola, and hit the slopes until the last lift runs at 2:30 that afternoon.

Combine Cornucopia + Whistler Mountain Skiing To Best Effect

The November 16th opening is a full 13 days earlier than their scheduled November 28th opening, due to incredible winter snow conditions and the awesome snow making capabilities of Whistler Blackcomb. Though Blackcomb is still set to open on November 28th, American Thanksgiving Day, 5 lifts on Whistler Mountain will be open this Saturday.
Since Cornucopia has a packed schedule on this day, your choices for a full day are mind boggling.

A Unique Opportunity to Combine Great Food and Skiing

For those who arrived in Whistler in a group, there is now the opportunity to truly keep everyone happy. And if you want to combine the two, might we suggest beginning with meditation at 7:00 am, making your way in a state of bliss to the Whistler Gondola, skiing from 8:30 (catching the first lift!) to mid-morning, where you can head back down to Whistler Village to catch the Culinary Stage Series at 12:00 pm at the Whistler Conference Centre.

By the time the last lift runs at 2:30, you'll be ready for your apres, which is happening at venues around the Village from 4:30 pm.

The Whistler Mountain Opening Details:

You can upload via either the Whistler Village Gondola or the Creekside Gondola. As Doug MacFarlane notes:  “With all the excitement of opening day, we want to remind guests early season conditions will apply, especially off piste. It is important to obey mountain signage, ski and ride on open runs only and stay within the operational area marked by ‘Temporary Boundary’ signage. Guests should be aware there will be rocks and other hazards below the snow surface; we do not recommend skiing and riding outside the temporary boundary in any circumstances.”

We recommend using common sense. This is an early opening. There will be rocks and other hazards out of bounds.

3 Lifts and 1,800 Vertical Terrain Open

Chair lifts which will be open include: Emerald Express, Big Red Express and the Franz. A few of the runs open include:  Ego Bowl, Upper Whiskey Jack, Upper Franz, Papoose, Orange Peel and Pony Trail. 1800 vertical feet of terrain will be skiable.

If you need rental gear, it will be available Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from Essentially Blackcomb, Can Ski Creekside and the Salmon Store.
