Red Bull JoyrideThe biggest event of Crankworx Red Bull Joyride takes place this Saturday, August 17. The contest gathers twenty of the best freestyle mountain bikers in the world to showcase their amazing array for aerial tricks.

Riders are given three runs to throw down their best bag of tricks on a course that melds natural terrain with gigantic man made features. Competitors are scored on technicality, style, air time and all around epicness.

This year's course has been designed with rider input to further evolve the event and course design.

If you've never caught the Joyride in person or on T.V you’re in for a treat. The contest is held at Skiers Plaza at the base of the Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park. Thousands of people pack the village to watch these amazing athletes leap through the air while pulling off tricks not thought humanly possible.

The atmosphere that mounts with each run gets more and more intense as the riders are repositioned from worst to first for their final run. When the final runs of the evening begin the crowd noise and the caliber of riding reach an all time high.

Five canucks will be competing in this year's event including Kurt Sorge, Anthony Messere, Darren Berrecloth, Brandon Semenuk and Geoff Gulevich. Rounding out rest of the spots are; defending champ Thomas Genon, Cam McCaul, Sam Pilgrim, Tyler McCaul, Antoine Bizet, Yannick Granieri, Mike Montgomery, Andreu Lacondeguy, Tomas Zejda, Peter Henke, Martin Soderstrom, Cam Zink, Kelly McGarry, Anton Thelander and Sam Reynolds.

You can catch the Red Bull Joyride event in person on Saturday, August 17 from 4PM to 7PM. The event takes place on the bottom of the Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park. Viewers can watch the event from Skiers Plaza capable of housing thousands in attendance. In order to secure premium seating we advise you get there at least half an hour early or else you may be regulated to the back rows.
