Whistler Valentines Day: Share the Love
What will you do this Valentine's Day? If you can spend the weekend in Whistler, there's plenty to do with the one you love. Take a look at the following ideas, and get ready to share the love.
Valentine's Weekend in Whistler
The drive from Vancouver itself is a 90-minute romantic journey along one of the most scenic highways in the world.
Much of the drive hugs the Howe Sound, where you are delighted with views of islands, water and gorgeous skylines. On your way, you'll pass Porteau Cove, a perfect place to stop for a picnic and take in the local culture. The cove is a famous diving spot, with several sunken ships including a minesweeper, a 1920s tugboat and a sailboat hull. The artificial reefs created attract octopuses and crabs as well as lots of fish. Even if you don't add diving into your weekend, just knowing you're sharing your picnic so close to an underground garden should help to set the tone for your weekend getaway. As you approach the mountains, the energy changes and the surrounding peaks inspire you to the adventure you about to embark on.
Whatever adventure means to you, of course.
Adventure —Indoors and Out
A weekend in Whistler opens up possibilities of connection with your spirit and renegotiating your contract with your inner love-child. Take time to suss out spots that speak to you and your honey for the ultimate romance weekend.
Hey — You can even get married here.
Once settled in, consider adding the Scandinave Spa Package to your visit. The package includes your room at Aava, plus 2 adult guest passes to the spa.
Scandinave Spa takes you into a fully immersive experience — body, mind and soul. The combination Finnish sauna, eucalyptus steam bath, wood stove, hammocks and hot and cold pools, all surrounded in pure silence makes for a weekend of bliss for both of you.
Peak 2 Peak Gondola
You have two choices for traversing the two peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
You can either travel via the Peak 2 Peak gondola, the world's record setting ride that takes you from one peak to the next and allow you to wine and dine at 6000 feet — or —
You can ski all day, making your way from one mountain to the other as you take in all the splendour around you. Both are great options, and of course, you can combine the two to make your day absolutely perfect.
Outdoor Ice Skating at Olympic Plaza — It's free and fun! Of course, being an outdoor rink, weather is a factor, but if it's chilly outside (which, in February, is pretty much a given :)) you may as well warm up by skating with your sweetie under the stars.
Snowshoeing — Winter hiking in the woods. Ask the Aava staff for great suggestions of where to go and what to see...and don't forget to take along a GoPro to chronicle the whole thing.
Ziptrek Eagle Tour — Combine your stay with us with a ZipTrek tour package. The 2000-foot experience that drops 30 storeys will have you exhilarated, your heart racing as you fly from treetop to treetop.
Sleigh Ride & Gourmet Fondue Dinner A romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride. What could be more romantic than that?
