It's BBQ Championship Time!
What’s better than a good old fashioned BBQ? How about the Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Championships! Yep that’s right, the National BBQ Championship is back at Dusty’s Bar & BBQ this July 29 - 31. Another full three days of finger-lickin’ goodness and live entertainment.
Like times before the competitions include; the Backyard Burger Championship, the Budweiser King of the Grill, the CASI International Chili Championship, and the Ravenswood Cork & Pork.
But this year there’s a special surprise. The championships have introduced a new competition, the Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Championships Sauce Contest, so be sure to bring an extra couple napkins for this cookout.
But this is all just appetizers for the main event. What really determines the Grand Champion is a cook-off of pork-butt, beef brisket, chicken, and ribs. And these competitors better bring it because there’s over $14,000 in cash and prizes to be won. And that’s not all, the winner also receives an invitation to the BBQ World Championships in Las Vegas!
Friday July 29th
Starting off the weekend on Friday is Whole Lotta Ribs, an all-you-can-eat BBQ dinner. After you’ve completely stuffed yourself with delicious food, Dusty’s will kick off the Bulleit Burner Concert Series with the band FOMO starting at 9pm. (Oh and by the way, FOMO stands for Fear Of Missing Out, which you’ll totally have if you skip this.)
Saturday July 30th
The real competitions start on Saturday from 11am - 4pm. Samples will be available for spectators by donation. So bring your change jars because proceeds will be donated to Playground Builders, an organization that builds playgrounds for children in war torn countries. And during all this there’s free music and entertainment going on, what else could you need!
You thought Saturday was over didn’t you? Well it’s definitely not! After all that competition the Bottomless BBQ Buffet starts, another all-you-can-eat feast of chicken and pork. Followed up by a performance by the Will Ross Band, so you can burn off all those extra pounds you just gained and maybe close your belt again.
Sunday July 31
On Sunday, the final stage of the competition will be completed and a Grand Champion will be crowned at 4:30pm. But not before a $1 pancake breakfast, benefiting the Whistler Rotary Club, stretches out the ol’ belly. Live music carries on through the day until a final performance by The Hairfarmers in the evening on Dust’s concert stage.
You definitely don’t want to miss out on this BBQ. Check the schedule down below for more information or visit Whistler Blackcomb Events.?
