Free Outdoor Concert Series 2016!
Are you ready to enjoy another free concert this summer?! Well you’re in luck because this August and beginning of September are jam-packed with performances at the Whistler Olympic Plaza. So get your dancing shoes on because the Great Lawn will be transformed into a big dancefloor this month.
With such a super line-up this year we thought we would show you what we’re excited for, so you don’t miss out on any good performances.
Oh and let us remind you that all these concerts are FREE at the Whistler Olympic Plaza!
Hannah Georgas is one of Canada’s rising alternative pop rockers, and has received two “Songwriter of the Year” nominations at the Juno Awards. Georgas has been touring for her new album which was released last month, For Evelyn, and her show promises to a melodic jamfest.
The Strumbellas are an award-winning six-piece Canadian band, formed in Ontario, whose music has been described as "folk pop-grass”. That awkward genre label didn’t stop these guys from racking up millions of views on their music videos and performing across Canada and the United States. This Saturday performance is sure to bring out the music lovers!
Live CBC Broadcast of the Final Tragically Hip Concert
Saturday, August 20th
It’s The Hip’s last show! Come out and watch Gord sing in front of an audience one last time on the Grand Lawn. You better get there early though because it’s going to be a full house (wait.. full lawn?).
Saturday, August 27th
Another Canadian folk-rock band, but this time it’s a husband-and-wife duo! Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland were both established singer-songwriters before opting to put their solo careers on hold to work together as Whitehorse. Now they’re 3 albums and 2 EP’s deep and still making classic tunes for the masses.
Saturday, September 3rd
Mother Mother is an indie rock band based in Vancouver, but originally from Quadra Island. This band is a must see with hits such as “Get Out The Way”, “Monkey Tree” and “Modern Love”. Mother Mother is another one of our must-sees of the concert series.
And that’s just a taste ladies and gentlemen! You can check out the full schedule over at Whistler.com
